Sometimes we ask God, “help me to be in love with you like that first love from long ago when I first met you, where I could scream from the rooftops that you are God”.
But the Lord wants you to know that true love is when you remain faithful even when you don’t feel the passion. Even when you don’t feel like it. Even in the moments where you can’t feel or hear Him clearly like you used to.
True love perseveres. True love lives in obedience. True love waits patiently. True love allows us to acknowledge that without Him we are nothing. It allows us to become humble enough to be gracefully broken so that it’s all Jesus and none of us.
True love suffers with others. True love weeps with those who weep. True love yearns to share the joy the Lord has placed in our hearts with those who no longer feel they have hope.
True love changes you. Transforms you into the character of Christ. True love will allow you to seek Jesus even when our flesh doesn’t want to.
And it is only through the Holy Spirit of God where we can find true love. Shalom 🩷
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears.1 Corinthians 13:4-10 NIV
