Yes. Absolutely yes.
Jesus is the best teacher. That doesn’t mean that you can’t be taught by anyone, it doesn’t mean you have to completely disregard all of your mother’s teachings, or the sermon your pastor gave last Sunday, it means that you have to learn to discern what you are being taught. The Holy Spirit will teach us all we have to know and will remind us about everything we have learned. Knowing Biblical truth and knowing how to discern what is wrong and what is right is key in surviving the evil that is happening now. The Holy Spirit inside of us is what helps us to discern between whats right and wrong. It helps us in our everyday lives, in every aspect of our lives.
All of this being said , we have to learn to discern when someone is wrongly telling us that we can’t do something that Jesus is telling us to do, because they say we are not “qualified” or we are not “allowed” to do it. In Luke 4: 18 , Jesus reminds us that the prophet Isaiah said the following words:
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
Luke 4: 18
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,
19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
The Spirit of the Lord is on me. Because HE has anointed me. We are anointed. We are set- apart to do the work that has to be done. Jesus is coming soon, and we have so much work to do. Look around you right now. Who is in need of saving? Your family, your friends, your coworkers, your boss, you landlord, you mailman, the cashier you see at Walgreens every time you go buy vitamins. There are so many people silently crying out for help, and often times we ignore it because we’re scared. We ignore it because we don’t think we’re as qualified as a Pastor or a prophet, or the famous gospel singers on the radio. But let me tell you, you are more than qualified, because Jesus Himself has anointed you!
When Jesus was walking around on this earth, he had 12 disciples with Him. People would think that Jesus would walk around with 12 kings, or 12 princes. But our Jesus was so amazing that He chose 12 unschooled, ordinary men.
13 When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.
Acts 4:13
God never judges a man by the worlds standards.
God never judges a man by the worlds standards. Read that there a couple of times and really dwell on that. Have you been comparing God to man? Is that why you don’t feel like you can go to Him, is that why you feel like He won’t love you because your’e a sinner? I want to tell you you’re absolutely wrong. Read it again. God loves you. He chooses the foolish to shame the wise. He chooses the vile and the belittled. He chose 12 unschooled, ordinary men to walk with His Son during the most important time of His life.
27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.
1 Corinthians 1:27
Paul Let’s talk about Paul. He was totally unqualified. His name used to be Saul, until God changed it to Paul. You know what Saul used to do? He used to persecute Christians. Until God confronted him, blinded him, and led him. And you know what God did with Paul when He chose Him? He became an Apostle and wrote the majority of the New Testament. How’s that for qualified?
David Almost everyone has heard about the story of David and Goliath. But have you ever truly thought about the meaning behind that story? This giant named Goliath, had dozens and dozens of highly qualified (according to the world’s standards) , highly trained men, cowering for days. He had them at a standstill, petrified. And here comes a young , untrained, unqualified shepherd who comes right in, and in the name of our Holy God knocks down this giant with a single stone. That’s the thing, when God qualifies you, and you have that faith and confidence in Him, when you let Him use you, He will use you with such magnitude and power that even you will be in shock.
What does this have to do with Holy Anointing Oil?
God’s power is made perfect in weakness. He chooses the weak but you have to be willing. He equips us with everything we need to fight the battle. We just have to be willing to humble and submit ourselves to His word, to His glory, to His power.
When you are using anointing oil, you are performing a beautiful, sincere, powerful act of obedience and faith. We are human, and we have to remember that. But we also have to remember that we have a very able God, a very powerful, loving God backing us up everywhere we go. Grab your oil in faith, leave the fear behind, and go anoint and do what God has been telling you to do for a long time. Grab your oil, say a prayer, and anoint in faith, always believing that Jesus is in control and that He will never let you down. Amen.
